Uncle Charlie’s Cabin is named after the late Charles A. Verdon, whose family lived in this house since 1906. Uncle Charlie as he was affectionately called by most of the children of the area passed away in the spring of 2003. He had returned to Lansing, his boyhood home, after retiring from Oscar Meyer in Davenport, Iowa. He ran a small boat rental and bait shop (known simply as "Charlies") on the Lansing Fish Market property managed by his brother Harold Verdon. To strangers entering his shop he was often gruff and a little un-kept at times, but to the "little people" he was as soft and caring as anyone you’ll ever know. He gave away more candy to the children then he ever sold. He was the Lansing Volunteer of the year and loved to don his Santa Costume and hand out candy canes at Christmas time.

The Verdon family residence in South Lansing has been fittingly updated and restored. Cedar siding and beveled glass windows compliment the gothic styled house. The vaulted ceiling, knotty pine car siding, and spiral staircase give the great room a feeling of artisan elegance. Three bedrooms and 1 ˝ baths offer a comfortable family dwelling sleeping up to 10 people.

Uncle Charlie’s Cabin offers the traveler an avenue to the past, with the finest of accommodations and an unlimited list of activities year round.
